Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) Program Overview

The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program is a Victorian Government initiative that provides discounted energy saving products and services.
Since 2009, Victorian Energy Upgrades has helped more than 1.8 million households and 100,000 business premises receive discounts on energy efficient products and services.
Large energy retailers are required to acquire and surrender Victorian energy efficiency certificates (VEECs) to meet annual targets set in Victorian legislation.
‘Accredited persons’ that carry out upgrade activities by installing energy-efficient products in residential or non-residential premises can create VEECs

The greenhouse gas savings associated with the installation of an energy efficient product and/or decommissioning of an inefficient product determines the number of VEECs that can be created. The level of incentive or discount received by households and businesses varies depending on the market activity and certificate price. Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) Overview:

The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) is a Federal Government initiative that provides discounts for those that choose to install a renewable energy system such a PV Solar System or Energy Efficient Heat Pump Hot Water System.
Under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, eligible small-scale renewable energy systems are entitled to a number of small-scale technology certificates.

The number of certificates that can be created per system is based on its geographical location, installation date, and the amount of electricity in megawatt hours (MWh) that is displaced by the solar water heater or heat pump over the course of its lifetime of up to 10 years. Solar Victoria Hot Water Rebate Overview:

Created as a portfolio entity within the Department of Environment, Water, Land and Planning, Solar Victoria is responsible for the delivery of the Victorian Government’s Solar Homes Program – one of the most ambitious and transformative renewable energy programs in Australia.

The program is a key initiative in the Victorian Government’s commitment to reduce energy costs, boost energy supply, create new jobs in the renewables sector and tackle climate change.

In the first year of program operations, over 33,000 households have taken up the program offering and installed Solar PV and Solar Hot Water systems. This rapid take up highlights the willingness of Victorians to adopt renewable energy technology, take charge of their power bills and to create a better future.
